Tips for Choosing the Perfect Venue

So you've made a budget, now it's time to select the perfect place for your wedding. Here are a couple of items to consider:

  • Do you want the ceremony and reception to be in the same place?

  • Is it convenient for out-of-town guests to get to?

  • If it's an outside venue, do you have a "Plan B" in case of inclement weather?

  • Will all of your guests fit comfortably?

  • Would a Destination Wedding be an option?

  • Does the venue need to be wheelchair accessible?

With so many options available, it should not be too difficult to find the perfect place to say your "I Do's".

Narrow your choices by making a list of what type of place appeals to you most. If you love the ocean, then a beach ceremony at sunset would be just perfect.

Maybe lakeside or riverside is more your style. (Spring or Fall are the best times for these types of affairs. In the warmer weather, you run the risk of sharing the space with unwanted insects.)

If you adore the opulence of multi-tiered crystal chandeliers or picture yourself making a dramatic entrance on a grand staircase, then the more traditional venues would probably be best for you. Catering halls can be tranformed into fairytale settings.

If you're thinking you would like a small, intimate affair, a destination wedding may fit the bill. Keep in mind you will need activities to entertain guests for the weekend - a Welcome dinner, a Bon Voyage brunch, etc.

The latest trends seem to favor the rustic elegance of a country wedding - big, airy barns, beautiful decorated with specialty lighting and unique details.

Whatever your style, be sure to check if there is a liquor license in place, that you and your guests will be comfortable, and that your celebration will be worry-free.
